– Last Chance

It is typical for young basketball players to play in Rec Leagues for most of their young lives. Compare this to the “better” players that come from a Basketball Club/Travel Team and better prepared for their High School Basketball Tryouts.

Whichever one you are, if you do not make your high school team, you may not be aware as to why you didn’t make it:

  • Size – there were too many players your size and you got squeezed out
  • Skills – there more than enough skilled players and you probably lacked one or two skills to make you stand out
  • Conditioning – there were better conditioned atheletes at the tryout

You can go over and over it in your head, but it’s possible that you were not as prepared as the other participants.

While the most gifted/skilled players will make the jump from 8th grade to 9th grade smoothly and likely end up on their JV or even Varsity teams, most of the entry-level players will end up on the Frosh-Soph team. This is where the 9th & 10th grade players start out.

If you didn’t get selected during Tryouts or didn’t make it past the Summer Team, you might believe that it’s the end of the road. That is not exactly true. After the 9th grade, there is still the chance of trying out again as a Sophomore. There is alot of work involved, but you can work on your skills and conditioning in order to be better preprared for next years tryouts.

The Vipers will tryoutout and carry a small number of players to play in 8th grade level games until High School Teams are formed. then players will tryout for our Freshman High School Team.

The goal is simple, this is the Last Chance. If you are willing to work hard to build up your skills, conditioning and are ready to make the necessary sacrifices to get there, we can help.

Remember, only a very small number of players will be given the chance. Contact us for an evaluation. Tell us about how much you want to play on your High School team.
